MAGIC is the language of the heart and it crosses all barriers.
This was the statement of a visiting Salesian priest Fr Mantelli Silvo.
Fr Silvo, who is also a magician, arrived in Honiara on Saturday and will be leaving tomorrow.
For the last 50 years Fr Silvo had been entertaining crowds in countries such as Albania, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, China, Ethiopia, Philippines, Guatemala, Haiti, Hong Kong, India, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Papua, Portorico, Santo Domingo, United States, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda to name a few. Today he is in Honiara, not only to entertain but with a message of joy and happiness for young people. Speaking before Catholics and students in schools he had visited, Fr Silvo said joy and happiness are important to the lives of young people.
I
"It is important to bring happiness and joy into the lives of the young."
Each piace he visited Fr Silvo played his magie tricks. Some of the tricks he did were changing colours of items, making articles disappear, making colourful balloons as well as passing sword through a person to the disbelief, amazement and applause of the audience. Fr Silvo entertained at St Joseph's Tenaru, Bishop Epalle School, Don Bosco Technical Institute, Christ the King Parish and Swagi village. During these shows he also collected proceeds which he donated for the children's ward at the Tetere Mini Hospital which is currently stili under construction.
